Habari Spring 2008 - An Education Special

In this education special we look back at 2007 and share with you the achievements of our Build a School project. Through the project we have touched the lives of thousands of disadvantaged young children in some of the most impoverished and remote areas of Kenya and Uganda. Habari Autumn 2007 - News from the Field

In this issue we take a look at the success of the ever-expanding Build a Farm project. We introduce you to Robert, a young farmer who is reaping the rewards from all his hard work and training with Build Africa. We also feature some of our Build a Schol projects. Habari Autumn 2005 – Change A Life

This issue is our first 12-page, handy-size Habari. In it we launch our ‘Change A Life Appeal’, asking supporters to sponsor a change in their lives so they can help transform the life of a young person in East Africa. A case study of Samuel shows how Build Africa is working with street children in Uganda to give them a better future. We also talk with Build Africa patrons, Shiulie Ghosh and Henry Olonga about the moments that changed their lives forever.

Habari Summer 2005 – Developing Skills, Building a Future

This edition looks at Build Africa’s skills training for young people. It features a case study of Fred, a carpenter from Rakai in Uganda, who used Build Africa’s training and support to reach the orphans in his community. It looks in-depth at life skills, showing how they are essential in giving young people the confidence, awareness and empathy to make safe and positive choices. It shows that the right mixture of practical skills, mental empowerment and start-up resources can transform the future for young people.

Habari Spring 2005 – Empowered by Education

This Habari focuses on Build Africa’s support to education in East Africa. It provides feedback on the successes of the Skills for Living scheme, showing how it maximises the impact of supporter donations on rural communities in East Africa. It also looks at the big picture of education work - showing how it transforms societies from the roots up. There is also a case study of a headmaster from a rural school in Kenya.

Annual Review 2004 – Unlocking the Potential of Young People

Our latest Annual Review covers the main fundraising and project achievements from January 2004 to December 2004. It highlights the Big Lottery Fund award of £346,997 for HIV/AIDS work in Kenya as the fundraising success of the year. It also highlights our work developing small businesses in rural Uganda as a key project success. There is a summarised accounts page for year ending December 2004.
